How do I recycle my empty calibration gas cylinder?

Question: How do I recycle my empty calibration gas cylinder?

Answer: This is a common question we get asked and it's important to know that all of our portable calibration gas cylinders are completely recyclable by any company that accepts steel and aluminum.

Here are 3 easy steps to recycling your empty calgas cylinders:

Completely empty the cylinder of gas. Full, or partially full cylinders are considered hazardous materials and cannot be returned.

De-valve the empty cylinder using our devalving tool.

Use the C-10 devalver for 29, 58, 116 liter aluminum or 58 and 103 liter steel cylinders.

Use the CGA 600 devalver for 17 and 34 liter steel cylinders.

Take your vacated and devalved cylinders to your local steel and aluminum recyclers.

Question: What if there isn't a recycling facility near me?

Answer: Return your empty cylinders to us and we'll recycle them for you.

Follow these steps to return your cylinders to us:

Completely vacate and devalve your cylinders as described above.

Cover the cylinder label and mark it as empty. You can print this sheet and use it to cover the label (Print Empty Label).

Ship the empty/devalved cylinders to:

Norlab Recycling
898 W Gowen RD
Boise, ID 83705

Note: If you're using the original shipping packaging you must first remove any gas stickers from the box or cover them.
